Nicky Rylance was born and educated in Ireland. She trained as a textile designer in Dublin and Copenhagen and as a result has always been interested in texture and colour. She moved to Bristol with her husband in 1984 and worked in business for many years before re-training as a garden designer with the Pickard School of Garden Design and gaining RHS level 1 and 2 in Horticulture. Her work is predominantly for private clients, and mostly focused in the West Country.
She is a pre-registered member of The Society of Garden Designers.
"Every job has its own unique set of challenges and it is this that I find so exciting. I like to work closely with my clients to make sure I produce a design solution that works but is also what they want."
" The last year working with Nicky Rylance has proven as enjoyable as it has been fruitful. Her careful working of the brief for our garden in Gloucestershire and her iterative design process - listening, taking into account likes and dislikes whilst keeping in mind the issue of on-going maintenance - has been a very rewarding experience. The garden that is emerging feels very much like ours, but we simply would not have been able to create it without Nicky's expertise and advice. It looks great and it feels like a happy adventure.
