Barn Conversion - Somerset
This garden was created on the site of a concrete yard and silage pit and as a result there
was little or no soil depth. All the beds are raised using corten steel edging and planted with
plants in blue white and yellow. Many of the plants are those loved by butterflies and bees
such as Agastache, Achillea Credo, Nepeta Walker’s Low, and Lavender Hidcote. Grasses such as Stipa
Goldilocks, Deschampsia ‘Goldtau’ and Stipa tenuissima are also included. A beech hedge was planted
along the western boundary which once mature will provide the garden with shelter from the prevailing winds.
Rosa Generous Gardener is growing up the chunky green oak pergola. This is a wonderful rose
as it retains lots of glossy foliage at its base, is repeat flowering, disease resistant and most
importantly gloriously scented.
